“That’s what it’s all about… Doing something good for people. My gift to people is to see their faces and hear all the good things they say.”

-Marj Brentlinger

On Mother’s Day 1991, Marj Brentlinger, age 70, gathered her family to announce that she had a new, big idea. She was turning the family farm into a party farm. Her husband Brent had passed a few years earlier, and her 5 kids thought she was crazy, but soon they were tearing stalls out of the barn and pouring concrete for the floor. Marj sold the farm equipment to cover start up costs, and the tack room was converted into a kitchen. After just 3 months, she hosted her first wedding.

The family had originally moved to the farm in 1964, where they raised cattle and quarter horses, and grew crops for feed. The idea to create a party barn came naturally because people always loved to come out to the farm for their parties.

Marj had only the word of mouth from a local newspaper article to rely on for advertising, but soon, business sped up and it didn’t slow down. Marj coordinated events into her late 80’s, and passed away at the age of 96 in 2018.

The barn hasn’t been as lively without Marj, but her daughter, Terri Bauer, is ready to bring life back to the barn in honor of her mother.
